Attorney Anna N. Westmoreland was admitted to practice law in North Carolina in 2004. Before attending law school at New England Law, she was a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She majored in Political Science, with a minor in Women’s Studies. After two very cold winters of law school in Boston however, Anna decided it was time to come home to Charlotte.
Anna was born in Lomza, Poland, and immigrated to the United States at age 6 with her parents. Since then, she has lived in Boston, Massachusetts; Brooklyn, New York; Hartford, Connecticut; and most notably Charlotte, North Carolina, which she considers home.
She is married to her college sweetheart, Thomas, with whom she also works, and together they have three beautiful and smart children (one of whom is actually an adult now). Anna strives to balance raising a family, owning a successful law firm, and having time for herself occasionally.
Anna has been a practicing trial attorney for over 20 years in Mecklenburg, Stanly, Cabarrus, Gaston, Union, and other surrounding counties. She has also vast experience in administrative matters including NC DES unemployment hearings (including denial and overpayment appeals), EEO/EEOC mediations and/or other employment-related matters; and she regularly advocates for her clients in front of several other state and federal administrative entities.
Anna is a North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission (“NCDRC”) Certified Family Financial Mediator since 2018 and she regularly conducts mediations in her office to help families resolve financial and custody disputes without court intervention.
Anna also completed Superior Court Mediator training in 2015 and remains active in the Mecklenburg County Superior Court.
Anna is additionally licensed to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina; and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
In her free time, Anna enjoys spending time with her husband, her three children, and extended family

Thomas is a native of Lewisville, North Carolina and is also a proud Eagle Scout. Thomas is a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, having served from 2005-2006, and returning home after the birth of his first child.
Thomas joined Westmoreland Legal in 2015, after spending many years in the corporate world. Thomas enjoys improving workflow and the process that Westmoreland Legal regularly engages in for our clients, from initial client intake to trial preparation.
Thomas is also a dedicated husband and father, dedicating his non-working hours to his family. Thomas knew from very early on that he wanted to have a family and to focus his energy on raising children of his own. When he and Anna began their own family, the demands of two separate careers became apparent very quickly, and they knew that a change was needed in their career-family balance. So, the decision was made to take a leap of faith and to focus all efforts on Westmoreland Legal. And it was the best decision this married couple has ever made for their family.
Thomas continues to focus his energy and love on his three children with Anna, his work with our many clients, and his dedication to the military veteran community in Charlotte and North Carolina overall.
